Application Layer Gateway Service

I am trying to connect my Laptop and Xbox 360 together using ICS. Unfortunately, ICS will not start without the Application Layer Gateway Service. I have manually started this many times, and have set it to start automatically, I've also made sure that it is enabled for my account. Yet, as soon as I close the window it stops functioning. How do I solve this?

Also, this is ocurring on Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit), not XP.

You have not disabled DNS Service have you, for a hosts file program or similar?
