Keyboard shortcuts to switch between programs - other than 'Alt-tab'.

OK guru's - here is my challenge. I run PPT presentations and use an audience polling programme (call it ARS) simultaneously. This means I must be able to get from PPT to ARS  tp conduct the poll and then back to my PPT slide show. Alt-tab is the easiest but that makes me computer bound which is awkward. I currently get from PPT to ARS by dragging the mouse over a picture hyperlink which has been set up to automatically resume the ARS program. My problem is getting back.

I purchased a Microsoft presenter mouse 8000 with the hope that I could train some of the additional mouse buttons to do the 'alt-tab' thing but it will not accept the input. It is important for me to get back to where I left off in slideshow to continue the presentation. It needs to be slick as, with no menu's etc on screen. Who can HELP!!!

    Hello vaughanfelton,

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Answers Forum.

Sorry for the delay in answering.

I found something that may help you in your PowerPoint presentations. It is called Shortcut Manager for PowerPoint.

You can assign keyboard shortcuts to menu items and you can customize them. Click here to download

There is a 30 day trial download, after which you would have to purchase. Shortcut Manager for PowerPoint works with Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003, Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 (XP) and Microsoft PowerPoint 2000.

    More info:

I have also tried setting the mouse button up as an exe for PPT but that just starts another program  and does not get me back to where I was in my slide show. I have also tried saving the presentation as a .pps slideshow and then set the mouse button up to open a shortcut link to it but this does not work.
