Hello everybody, at a customer's site, there is Outlook 2019 running both on 2019 terminal servers and on workstations/notebooks, talking to an Exchange 2016 server. Outlook starts very slowly there, takes one to two minutes to come up. How can we diagnose that please? Best Regards, Stefan Falk

    Hi,

Is this happening to one user or multiple users?

    Please check the below,

1.Launch outlook in safe mode to check if the issue is with add-ins (If safe mode works, try disabling add-ins one by one to narrow down to the problematic one)
2.If mailbox size is huge and if outlook is configured in online mode
3.Multiple shared mailboxes are configured or added to the profile

    Hello everybody,

    we have got answers:

    a) outlook /safe did not help. Starting outlook takes 55 - 60 seconds in safe mode also.

    b) Outlook is in online mode, as we run terminal servers. But the effect is there for all users, including ones with very small mailboxes.

    c) The effect is also present for users without access to foreign mailboxes.

And I can add: Recreating the MAPI profile does not help.

What can I check now please?

    Hi @Stefan Falk ,

During the "55 - 60" seconds, have you noticed that Outlook stuck at which specific step for a long time?

I noticed that you have mentioned that this issue happened to all the users even those who only have small mailboxes. So, we may can infer that Outlook client is not the key of this issue. There seems to be some common factors among all these users and caused this issue. Antivirus software and other third-party programs have influence on Outlook, please try to perform a clean boot in Windows and only run Outlook client alone to see if the issue has any difference.

By the way, for online mode, Outlook will directly access data from your mailserver. So, it is also suggested to check if there is any restriction in your network settings or mail server.

    Hello, I have news.

The "Outlook" test in https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/tests/exchange ends with the following error:

Es wird versucht, ein Ping-Signal an den Endpunkt "MAPI-E-Mail-Speicher" mit der Identität "******@caritas-speyer.de:6001" zu senden.
Fehler beim Versuch, ein PING-Signal an den Endpunkt zu senden.

If I shall translate anything thereof, please let me know.

Get-OutlookAnywhere refers to the FQDN of the internet-side name both for its external and its internal URI. However, internally we have split-DNS, and the external name resolves directly to the internal IP of the Exchange 2016 VM. So, what the connectivity analyzer sees from the outside is not necessarily that what Outlook sees on the internal LAN. Please consider that. If I can test anything else, please let me know. Thank you all!

    Best Regards,
    Stefan

    Hello Jeff,

Ups - I thought I had answered already - sorry!

I tried to rung the analyzer in English language. I can open it, select the "gear" symbol, choose German language and click Save. But nothing happens. The language "dialog" stays open, and the languange stays German. I tried that both from a machine of the customer as well as from my own workstion.

How can I configure the language if using the UI of the website does not work?
