If anyone out there is having issues launching the game, especially on a computer you have ran the game on in the past or if you are encountering a message to run as administrator, and then nothing happens, look for the Microsoft update kb3086255. You can do this by opening the Control Panel, clicking on Uninstall a Program, and then View installed updates (on the left side of the window). Searching for the update is the fastest way. If it is in your Windows 7 computer, then this needs to be uninstalled for Microsoft's Age of Myth to run. More information about this can be found here:

After hours of researching & testing, I have found a solution that works for my computer. Thought I'd share it as I understand the toil of not being able to play such a great game!
Essentially, the problem was with secdrv.sys, a copy-protection file that AoM relies on. Apparently support for it on my Windows 8.1 OS was lacking when running this 2002-released game. I used this command in the command prompt (run as Admin):
sc config secdrv start=auto
Hope this helps!

Hi jwinte2,
**Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forum. As I see the game is not compatibel with windows7, the following link will help you to find the compatiblity link. https://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Search.aspx?type=Software&s=Age%20of%20Mythology&os=64-bit I would suggest you to contact your gaming manufacturer and see if there are any updates for windows7, how ever I would suggest you to try installing in vista comaptibelity mode.**1. Right click on the icon for the program
2.Click on properties
3.Now click on compatibility TAB
4.Under compatibility section, put a check mark on “Run this program in compatibility mode for:”
5.In the drop down box select windows Vista
6.Under privilige level check mark "Run this programs as an administrator"7.Click on “Apply”
8.Click on “OK”
