Hello confuseduser, Do you have any video capture card installed on your PC? Looking at the log you posted, the error code (0x8007001f- A device attached to the system is not functioning) suggested that this behavior occurs with video capture cards that work with video port extensions (VPE) and support video port pins instead of preview pins. For more information and to see the workaround available for this issue, see this link http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/319445

Hi Joseph, sfc /scannow did not find any problems, when I ran it a couple of days ago (the error already existed then). Confuseduser

    Hi confuseduser,

You may have corrupted files.  You use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to check and fix system corrupted files.  To do this, follow these steps:

    1.       Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click****Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

    2.       Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    sfc /scannow

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Hi Zack, I am getting automatic Updates for Vista and I should have them all (including the latest Service Pack, which caused problems as well).  I would like the errors fixed and I am wondering, how to find out, which device should have another driver.  I am also getting an Audit failure for one driver, which I think is: drivers\mchInjDrv.sys (apparently one driver also cannot get a security certificate, which is a question I have asked in a different thread).  I have had the message that one device is not working properly, ever since I got the computer last year.  I have tried to test all the drivers, I could find in Device Manager, whether they are working properly and they are.  Confuseduser

    Hello confuseduser,

Thank you for posting.  I'm not sure if I understand your question.  Are you referring to how to delete the event log, or how to stop the errors themselves?  I see one concerning a device connected to your computer that isn't working.  The could be fix by finding a Vista compatable drive from the device's support website.  As for the other events, I would recommend letting Windows Update get all availible updates for your Version of Vista.

Please let me know if this helps you.
