"Windows Servicing identified that package KB... is not applicable for this system"

My OS is Windows Vista Sp2.  After KB install I noticed the above eventlog warning (4374) eleven times since 14 October -- regarding KB954155 KB975467 KB971486 KB905866 KB974470 KB974571 KB973525 KB975517 KB972145 KB969947 KB973565

Best thing to do, I guessed, is uninstall and hide the updates when they are presented again; no system restore.

I suspect these are updates for Windows-7 (?) and I wonder what the consequences are for Vista users who are no regular event log watchers.

I keep getting the same type of alert on updates that are issued I don't think Vista users would be getting updates for windows 7.

    o0o,

Are you having any problems getting updates or installing them?  Are you going through Windows Update, or are you using a 3rd party update manager?  Are you getting any error messages on-screen or are you just seeing this in the event log?  Have any of the updates appeared to have caused any issues on your system?

You may want to look at this thread.

Nine updates today -- five of them not applicable for my system (two machines): KB971737, KB970430, KB973917, KB905866 and KB974318.

Maybe there's no harm in installing, maybe there is.

The view from an expert here, however, would be highly appreciated...

    Same happened to me.

I would not have looked at the event viewer but I did read about the black screen of death and one of the KB's is included in the mention (969947) and the computer became slower, tried to find reasons, scanned with KIS and mbam and did not find anything.

By becoming slower I mean that the windows in Windows Explorer take 2/3 seconds to close as if they stick, may be this has to do with those updates, don't know but it started around the 10th November.

The question is : what can be done to avoid this, auto-updates ? not reliable any more ?

My system is Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

Today on two machines, both Vista 32-bit, after 4 'important' update packages the Event viewer told me that:

Windows Servicing identified that package KB976470 (Update) is not applicable for this system.

Same goes for: KB973687 and KB976098.

Uninstalled and later hid all three.

Am I really the only user who sees this as a (time-consuming) problem?
