To restore the default gadgets that ship with Windows 7, follow these steps:

  1. Click on Start, and then click on Control Panel.
  2. Click on Appearance and Personalization.
  3. Under "Desktop Gadgets", click on "Restore desktop gadgets installed with Windows".

Hope that helps, have a great day!

Hello modified,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers Community.

Since you have tried Restore desktop gadgets installed with Windows and a reqair install and they have not worked, try logging into another user account on your computer and navigate to the location for the mediacenter.gadget. Copy the gadget folder and paste it in the other user account in the correct location.

Hope this helps

No I meant the Actual windows media center gadget. The one located here:

    C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets\MediaCenter.Gadget

I did a repair install and media center asked me if i wanted to add the gadget and I said yes. After that the gadget didn't load or show up in the available gadgets. Not sure how I can get this back. Can anyone help?

    Thanks!

Do you mean the one for SideShow devices? Here's the download, but I understood it is buggy with W7.

I've tried this and it says there are no windows gadgets to restore. Is there anyway to get a down-loadable .gadget file for the media center?

    Thanks
