Jayavardhanarao,

To delete all but the most recent restore point:

  1. Click on Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click on Disk Cleanup.
  2. Select the system drive (typically this is drive letter "C") if prompted.
  3. Click on "Clean up system files".
  4. Provide consent or the appropriate credentials if prompted by User Account Control.
  5. Click on the "More Options" tab.
  6. Under "System Restore and Shadow Copies", click on the "Clean up..." button.
  7. In the dialog that appears which asks if you are sure, click on the Delete button.
  8. Close the Disk Cleanup window.

Hope that helps, have a great day! :)

Kristan's reply is good to clean up.

Now to make sure the problem does not recur:

  1. Click Start, right-click Computer and click Properties
  2. Click System protection link in the left pane
  3. In the System Protection options, select a drive-letter and click Configure
  4. Under Disk Space Usage drag the slider over to a number you can live with (I recommend at least 10% of your total).
  5. Click OK, OK

(You can also delete all system restore points from that screen.)

There isn't a More Options tab on the Disk Cleanup utility in Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate until after one clicks the Clean up system files button and chooses a disk to clean up (if that's necessary on that computer).

Microsoft says this procedure will work and I confirmed it on my Windows 7 computers:

To delete all but the most recent restore point

    1. Open Disk Cleanup by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Disk Cleanup, and then, in the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.
    2. If prompted, select the drive that you want to clean up, and then click OK.
    3. In the Disk Cleanup for (drive letter) dialog box, click Clean up system files.  If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    4. If prompted, select the drive that you want to clean up, and then click OK.
    5. Click the More Options tab, under System Restore and Shadow Copies, click Clean up.
    6. In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, click Delete.
    7. Click Delete Files, and then click OK.

The procedure described by Ross Jaburg and _null____ [Kristan M. Kenney ("Nighthawk64")] is for an earlier version of Windows.
