After installing Windows 7, the touchpad on my laptop stopped working. Is there any way to port vista software to windows 7 or anything else that might work?

I've gone through several of the questions asked already, but most of them relate to the fact that drivers are bugging or it's a hardware malfunction. My error relates to the fact that my laptop (a Toshiba Qosmio X300-12N) was created for Vista and thus the software and function keys are installed together with the Home Version of Vista (that was delivered with my laptop). The problem being that this Windows 7 version does not contain that software for activating certain function keys, of which one controls the enabling/disabling of my touchpad. My best guess is that it's stuck in the disable mode and I can't access the functions.

I've already tried to uninstall every driver installed and then reinstall the most common one. I tried to disable it fully, restart laptop and then enable, no dice aswell... Digging through Toshiba's forums didn't get me any further, since nearly nobody of the Qosmio generation is switched to Windows 7. Installing several different drivers for the touchpad didn't work to.

    Uninstall this driver.

Go to Control Panel -> Devices Manager

Click with right button of Your mouse on each yellow sign and choose properties. Then go to bottom details and paste here Hardware Ids. This way we will know what it is.

Below You've got example how to do it:

That's what my latest action was. I uninstalled the common driver of Windows and then installed the Synaptics one. Still not working... Isn't there a way to access certain installation files on my install disc of Vista, so I can install the Functions back on this OS? (With functions I'm referring to the Fn key in conjunction with an F1-12, they do certain actions, such as enabling/disabling the touchpad or enabling sound or stuff like that)

I'm not sure which touchpad You've got. So....

If You have Synaptics touchpad try this driver here (version 13.2.6.1).

If You have Alps touchpad then try this (version 7.5.1711.118 A) or this driver (version 7. 7.2.302.106).

Remember before installation of new driver uninstall old driver first.
