How do i turn off double tapping on my touchpad?

I cant seem to find where i turn this off.  I have had it turned off before, and it worked well.  When i type, my cursor randomly moves to another position on the screen.  I believe it is because i type too hard and it activates the double tap.  I have read a previous QA, and they suggested turning off the pad when i type.  That works well, but then I dont have access to the pointer.  Its just the double tap that i want turned off.  is this possible?

    Hello ForeignDust,

Thank you for posting.  I think I might have a solution for you.  You can speed up the double tap speed so that it requires the touchpad to be double tapped really fast to activate.  I've included the steps to change this below.

    Change mouse settings

You can customize your mouse in a variety of ways, such as swapping the functions of your mouse buttons, making the mouse pointer more visible, and altering the scroll wheel speed.

Please let me know if this helps you.

To change how the mouse buttons work

    1. Click to open Mouse Properties.
    2. Click the Buttons tab, and then do any of the following:
      • To swap the functions of the right and left mouse buttons, select the Switch primary and secondary buttons check box.
      • To change how quickly you must click the buttons to perform a double-click, move the Double-click speed slider towards Slow or Fast.
      • To turn on ClickLock, which enables you to highlight or drag without holding down the mouse button, select the Turn on ClickLock check box.

This is just the kind of stuff that I can't stand about Microsoft.  After all the previous iterations of Windows, someone arbitrarily decides to remove the option of turning off double-tapping, which I don't think half of the population has EVER liked.  And the solution is to "speed up" the requisite double-tap?  Ridiculous.  It doesn't work, to say the least, and at its worst, has caused me to lose work when something not saved disappears because some random hyperthread/button gets touched and opened.

Just a tremendously irritating, and dumb, thing for Microsoft to have done with this version of the operating system.  Your customers should have the right to turn off any "feature" they deem unnecessary.

You can't, there's no Synaptics drivers or anything.  The way my pad is laid out, I can't even type without sending the cursor all over the place.  This is terrible.
