How is the printer connected to the XP machine? At this point the drivers are installed on the Win 7 machine so I would try the following: connect the BJ-10e to the WIndows 7 machine and let Windows automatically install it. If this does not work then on the Win 7 machine go to Devices and Printers, right click on the BJ-10e, Printer Properties, POrts and select the proper port.
Printer driver for Canon Bubble-Jet BJ-10e
Windows XP includes printer driver for Canon Bubble-Jet BJ-10e. Windows 7 don't.
So far I have to print on the BJ-10e printer by distributing it in my LAN. The BJ-10e printer is connected to a computer running Windows XP. The Windows 7 computer as installed the BJ10e printer as a network printer, by installing the printer driver from the XP machine.
Is there any way I can use the driver that the Wiondows 7 machine uses for the BJ-10e printer for connecting the printer as a local printer? Or how to be able to use the Canon BJ-10e printer as a local printer on my Windows 7 machine?

2010-01-13T18:49:06+00:00 The printer is connected with a USB-printer cable on both the XP and Win7 machines. The Win7 machine doesn't automatically install the driver when the printer is connected.
I managed to have the Win7 machine to install the BJ10e printer as a local printer by temporary sharing the C:\ on the XP machine on my LAN. In the add printer interface I selected "Have Disk" and then browse to the the driverindex.ini file on the XP machine, then the Manufactures and Printers show up on the Win7 machine from the XP machine, which contains the Canon BJ10e printer.
Even if the BJ10e has been added as a local printer on the Win7 machine, I can't print the test page. I can see the test page flashing up in the printer administration window, but it dissapears immideatly. I can print on the printer from the Win7 machine over the LAN when the printer is connected to the XP machine. The printer properties are the same. Virtual printer port for USB is used. Any ideas why the BJ10e printer doesn't print as a local printer on the Win7 machine?
