Win7 File Extractor - How to I "unzip" multiple *.zip files in one operation, rather than one by one?

My client sends 6 to 8 *.zip files to me at one time.  I have not purchased or WinZip on my brand-new Win7 Professional system - because extractor software is built in.  I selected the zipped files, rclicked and chose "Extract All..."   I selected the destination folder and clicked "Extract.  ONLY the first file in the list was de-compressed.

I repeated the process several times, to be sure I wasn't missing something, but it seemed that I had to extract each file rather than one "batch" operation.

Anyone know the proper procedure?

You can use the free program 7-Zip to do this:

    http://www.7-zip.org/

I believe you have to download their latest Beta version 9.0x to use it with Windows 7.

The latest versions as of 12/12/2009 can be downloaded from here:

If you have 32-Bit Windows 7 then use this:

    http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7z909.exe

If you have 64-Bit Windows 7 then use this:

    http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7z909-x64.msi

After 7-Zip is installed you can select multiple .zip files, right-click on them, navigate to the 7-Zip pop-up menu, and choose the:

    Extract to "*" option .

This will extract each .zip file into its own folder named after the zip file.

    Hi Lfios,

    Welcome to Microsoft Windows.

There is no Microsoft software to unzip multiple *.zip files in one operation.

To unzip multiple *.zip files in one operation, you need a third party software. You may use your favorite search engine to find a software to unzip multiple *.zip files at once.

Note: Using Third Party Software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Third Party Software can be solved. Using Third Party Software is at your own risk.

    Hope this information is useful.

Yes.  Windows Vista (I think) and later can zip/unzip single zip files from within Windows Explorer.

    Hi,

This is a serious problem as many of the corporates policies don't allow to use any of the third party softwares. This problem is very long and requires resolution. Is Micrsoft doing something about it???
