Windows Movie Maker, adding multiple transitions...

So I am using windows movie maker, got a 2000 dollar laptop in hopes it would work better than my old mac.

I have tried EVERYTHING, from selecting everything, to clicking wildly. I am tired, and am actually taking a flash stick from this computer over to my old mac where i can do it in one click.

PROBLEM: I have 1265 photos i need to put in a slideshow, with transitions between each, and music. MUSIC: CHECK. PHOTOS: CHECK. TRANSITIONS: ONE AT A TIME!? wtf! sorry about the language, but it flusters me when a mac i got in 2006 outperforms my two day old PC. On mac, i touch ONE button, and random transitions appear on ALL of my photos.

Any help? I'm on vista premium, Movie Maker 6.0.

    Hello roadrunnersk,

Thank you for using Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

Sorry you are having a problem with this! I have added some steps below that I hope will assist with adding transitions. Please let us know status. Thanks!

    1. On the storyboard/timeline, click the second of the two video clips, titles, or pictures that you want to add a transition between.
    2. Click
Tools, and then click Transitions.
    3. In the Contents pane, click the transition that you want to add. You can click
Play under the monitor to see a preview of what the transition looks like.
    4. Click
Clip, and then click Add to Timeline or Add to Storyboard.
    Notes

·
You can also add a transition by dragging it to the timeline and dropping it between two clips on the Video track. Or, if you are in the storyboard view, you can drag the
transition to the transition cell between two video clips or pictures.

·
If you upgraded your computer from Windows XP to Windows Vista, any additional transitions and effects that you had previously downloaded and installed will not be available
in the current version of Windows Movie Maker.
---

Add transitions and effects to pictures and video in Windows Movie Maker:

http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/f02d7249-5247-49c9-9b8e-8c32dede2ee71033.mspx#E3

    To All the above,

None of these methods seem to work for me. After highlighing my photos, I go to transitions. When I click on a transition, or right click, my highlighting goes away. BUT!!

I have found if I right click on a transition and click copy and Then high light all my photos, (over 500), then right click and paste, the transition will go between each file.

Soooo, in order to use miltiple effects or transitions. Click several files, every forth or whatever, and then right click and paste. You can do this in groups or several spread out sequences.

    I am using Windows Vista.

    Roadrunnersk, got your answer:

    2 methods:

    Method 1:

Select all photos and drag to storyboard/timeline. Make sure they're still all selected! (highlighted in blue)

Right-click transition you like, and "Add to Storyboard" -- voila! ;)

    Method 2:

While the "Imported Media" selector(?) is selected, click AutoMovie.

    Hope that helps!

Alrollins - Thank you, thank you, thank you - you have saved my sanity. I tried everything and as you say putting trasitions in between every picture is a nightmare. This works perfectly. All I wanted was to fade between all my photos and this does the job quickly. I'm using Vista
