Unknown tmp files

I'm not sure where to ask this question, so trying here. I'm getting thousands of temp files like this one: OPS13B1.tmp I cannot figure out what program is creating them. Whatever it is, creates about 300 to 400 per day. I get them just using Explorer to browse files. I did several searches for this type of temp file but found nothinhg. I have ll the same programs installed on my XP machine, and I'm getting these on it.

Any ideas of help would be reatly appreciated.

Do you have some program called Webex Network Magic or similar installed?

many 0 byte files in vista temp folder "OPSD###.tmp" since network magic install?

See if isolating starting programs and non-Microsoft Services can isolate the cause.

A program like Process Monitor might help you confirm what is creating these files.

Jack,

Check your computer for malware, viruses etc . Follow Vincenzo's advice on how to get rid of malware from this post.

    Thank you very much, that was the problem program. I was quite sure I did not have a virus or malware, but I did follow JohnD's suggestion just to make sure.

    This a great place to come and ask questions, and a great group of people to answer them.

    John,

    Thanks for the response. I was feeling pretty rough when I wrote that and I can see that I as not very clear. The problem is on my Vista machine. What I was trying to say, is that I have the same programs on my XP machine as I do on my Vista machine, but I am not getting these tmp files on the XP machine.

    One other thing, all of these tmp files are 0 bytes. Between the time I wrote this yesterday and up until now, I have accumulated 900 more of these.

    So if you have any ideas, I would be happy to hear them. It would be nice if there was some way to associate temp files to the programs that right them. Is there any way to log that?
