Logitech Quickcam Messenger V-UBC40 - Windows Vista can not install Driver

I have Windows Vista x32

I have a Logitech Quickcam Messenger V-UBC40

I bought my Logitech Webcam about 2 years ago. It did not come with an installation CD, I just plugged the USB cable in and Windows Vista automatically downloaded the drivers and it worked fine.

About a year ago I was hit with a Virus so I had to revert my Computer to it's original state, so I lost all of my drivers, software, etc...

A few days ago I tried to plug my Logitech Webcam into my computer and Windows tried to install the drivers for the webcamera but could not find the correct drivers to download. I went to the Logitech website and tried to download the drivers and software then installed but that did not work either.

There is an option Windows gives for "Install driver manually" I know where the Logitech folder is and the Driver folder but I have no idea which one I would choose to install manually.

I did some research and found that a lot of people are having this same problem with this particular camera on Windows Vista and read a few tips on Installing Quickcam drivers for Windows XP instead.

The only thing is my Quickcam worked fine earlier on Windows Vista before I had to Revert the computer. This makes no sense I have not upgraded from Vista SP1 to SP2 yet everything is the same but Windows can not install the drivers.

I don't know what to do, any help you can give would be GREATLY appreciated!!

If you haven’t remove the backup RTM files that saved by SP1 setup installer, there is a backup copy of USBaudio.sys version 6.0.6000.16386 in \Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\wdma_usb.inf_9ce240de folder. However, in normal running computer, the file is always in use, and thus locked and cannot be deleted nor moved while system is running. Use the trick below to copy and swap back to old version of the file.

Follow this links and check what need's to be done:

    Also try this:

Sometimes the issue can be because of thecorrupt driver getting re-installed. Go to device manager and unintsall if it USB webcam. and restart and check.
