    Hello tbell1967,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forum!

To add to the above post, do you have AOL installed on your computer? On my research with the error code, I found that waol.exe is the executable file for the AOL user interface which allows you to logon to the AOL network, and the Internet. The waol.exe could be the main application for your AOL installation.

I suggest that you contact AOL support for the AOL installation and report them about the pop-up.

Here is a link to contact AOL Support:

If this does not work, check if there is any Malware infection on your computer. You can try to run a Malware scan on your computer to check if there is any Malware on the computer that is causing this issue. You may follow the below link and run an online scan:

    Where is the file location?

This could be and most probably is a AOL dialer. The way it is having the error sounds that way as well. However there was or is a virus that went under the same file name.

Try this and see if it resolves.

1.Select start, Type 'CMD', Right click the command prompt and select 'Run As Administrator'

    1. In command prompt type the following

    netsh winsock reset

    1. Reboot the PC and see if the error comes back
