Where are my e-mail files stored in Windows Mail?  I could find them in Outlook Express and change their location (from the longassed default directory) using Tools/Options/Maintenance/Store Folder but cannot find the parallel in Windows Mail.  Also, can I just add my .dbx files from Outlook Express on my old computer manually to the folder where my Windows Mail is stored on my new computer?

    Hello imjusttryingtogetananswer,

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Answers Community Forum.

The default folder location where Windows Mail store the messages at is:

    C:\users(your user name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders

You may have to make hidden files and folder viewable to be able to see the folders and files.

    Thank you,

    Jonathan

The correct path for Windows Mail is 'Tools|Options|Advanced|Maintenance|Store Folder'.

Is this Windows Live Mail on Windows 10?  If so, the path is:

    C:\Users(Username)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

Email messages are stored in folders as discrete .EML files.

If you're referring to the native Windows 10 Mail app, there's no way to get any email out of it.  What kind of email account do you have setup in it, POP, IMAP, Outlook.com/Hotmail/Live mail, or Exchange Server?  If its anything but a POP account, Your Exchange email client should pick all your email up by syncing with the email server.  This should also apply to a POP account, since the Windows 10 Mail app does not delete anything it downloads from the server.  There is, however, no way to get anything out of the Mail app's local storage. If you'd like to examine the mail store, have a look at this thread:
