How can I view video frame by frame using seek/scroll time line control?

I was using my friends computer and you could pause the video, and use the timeline/seek control to view the video frame by frame in real time (when I clicked on the seek and moved it left or right, the video would move with the control movement). But, I messed with his settings and he is upset. Now when I try that, you do not seeing any video movement, it just stays on the same frame where I paused and will sit there if I move and drag the seek button until I stop, then it shows and stays at that new frame. If you can please help, thank you. My friend is not happy and I need to resolve for him.

It is an HP 17in laptop running Vista home and Windows Media Player 11.

    Hello intoler8,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Windows Vista Community site.

Try following the step in this article:

Some video files support viewing one frame at a time.

    1. Play a video file.
    2. Click the arrow below the Now Playing tab, point to Enhancements, and then click Play Speed Settings.
    3. In the Enhancements pane, click the Next Enhancement button until Play Speed Settings is displayed.
    4. Do one of following:
      • To move the video forward one frame, click the Next frame button .
      • To move the video backward one frame, click the Previous frame button .
    5. To return to normal play speed, click Normal.
    6. To hide the settings, click the Close button in the Enhancements pane.

    This should resolve your problem.

Let us know if these steps resolve your problem.  I hope the information is useful.

    Regards,
