    Hi,

Welcome to Microsoft Windows 7 Forum!

You may try the steps as below and check if the issue gets fixed.

Note this issue occurs if there are any external devices connected to the computer, hence you need to disconnect any external devices from your computer and check for the issue by putting the computer in safe mode and then waking up.

If the issue still persists then you need to perform a cleanboot on your computer and check for the conflicting program because some programs run in the background and cause this issue.

    Clean Boot Troubleshooting.

    1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

    User Account Control permission.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the

    password, Or click Continue.

    1. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
    2. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup items check box.
    3. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
    4. Click OK.
    5. When you are prompted, click Restart.
    6. After the computer starts, check whether the problem is resolved.

If the issue is resolved check which third party program is causing the problem, referring the link given below:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Reset the computer to start as usual.

After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. On the General tab, click the Normal Startup option, and then click OK.

When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Restart.

    Thanks and Regards:

Try disabling  "Link State Power Management" under "PCI EXPRESS" in your power options. I have done a lot of testing myself (and with Msi) on this issue. Only way to work around this issue for now.

    Please post your results.

I am having the same or similar issue.  I updated my video card to the latest drivers, but the problem continued.  I also have perhaps a few other symptoms - the hard drive, wireless network adapter, keyboard, etc. appear to wake up and the hard drive light is flashing, but the screen is completely blank (no cursor) - it's as if the video signal isn't hitting the monitor (which is why I suspected the video card and updated the card's drivers).  In addition, the screen very briefly flashes the login screen, but the image appears to melt to a blank screen.

The only way to resolve it is to power off the system and repower up.  I'm also turning off all power management to avoid having the PC go into sleep/hibernation to begin with...

    Any other tips/steps to take?
