Drivers for NETGEAR WG311v3 54 Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter are not working.

Windows 7 installs the drivers for the WG311v3 automatically, but after the install, the hardware isn't working and I have an exclamation point next to the wireless card in the device manager.  I then looked at the properties and saw in device status that "The device cannot start. (Code 10)"  This device worked on vista, but is not working on 7. I have installed the drivers that came with it and tried all the compatiblity modes, but nothing works. Any Suggestions?

My hardware is

- Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40Ghz

  • 4 GB DDR2 800
  • Geforce 9600 gt
  • mobo: Asus PN5D

Best Wireless LAN Adapter for Desktops

I've been using the irritating Netgear WG311v3 adapter. Its horrible, lots of driver issues.

So I've decided to get a new Wireless Adapter. Which one does experts recommend?

    Hi

I do not know about the mentioned above Wireless card, and or many others of this kind.

Unfortunately End-user Network Devices are sold by marketing people Not by QA technicians.

I do know that the following card is an Excellent card, has drivers for all Widows OS',  and it is inexpensive.

    PCI card -  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833315041

    Drivers - http://www.edimax.us/html/english/frames/b-download.htm

*Disclaimer, I have No relation/connetion with the Manufacturer, or the Vendor mentioned above.

Worked for me too. I am running Windows 10 64 bit and the solution in this page (as referred by Krangen2179) works perfectly. Thanks so much!

ok just found this on the Netgear forum posted by a guy call bhear - will try it when I get home later tonight

Hi everyone. hope this one helps somebody out there.

just bought a Netgear WG311 v3 and tried to install it several times on Windows 7 32bit. first with the included CD drivers, then i went here on supportpage for

    WG311 and downloaded wg311v3_v5.0.0.5_setup.exe.

Always get the errorcode 10, (device didnt start.) begun to search on forums

for issues about this and now its WORKING!

so here we go. first you have to find right driver and that should be

wg311v3_3_1_setup.exe, NOT the one on the supportpage for WG311.

try to google it and you will find.

    1. Properties on wg311v3_3_1_setup.exe and select "compability" and choose "windows vista service pack 2" also checkbox "run as administrator".
    2. Run wg311v3_3_1_setup.exe in my case 2times (first it will ask you to remove previosly drivers, then install the new ones.
    3. reboot computer and when you enter windows you will be prompted

"install uncertified drivers, select yes and trust driver"

    1. now it should work! ive spent 6 hours for this.
