Corrupt Cabinet file

I am trying to install Windows Media Player 11 and am getting an error message saing that i either have low disk space for swapping files or have a corrupt Cabinet file.  I don't have an issue with low disk space, so i believe it has to do with the Cabinet file.  I'm also not able to install any other programs beside the Media player and need to update my drivers.  I am running Windows XP Home Edition.

This is the exact error code I get trying to install Media Player

"Extracting file failed. It is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping file) or corrupted Cabinet file."

Navigate to   My Computer   rught click on the drive and select   Properties    Tools.   Run scandisk and fix any and all errors.   Then run Defrag.

Next, if the source of Media Player is a DVD: Carefully wash the disk with warm water with a drop of hand dish washing liwuid. Rinse with copious warm water and dry with a clean, lint-free cloth. If it is fropm a DL file, re-download.

    Then reboot and try again.
