double sided printing for pdf files

Why can't I can't get my printer to allow double sided printing for pdf files?

I can get my printer to allow double sided printing on all but pdf files.  I am unable to open the properties tab after I open the print feature so I cannot select color or black nor double sided printing.   There was no problem with this until around the time I installed IE 8.   I am not sure that it is related to IE 8 or something else.

I have tried Windows Help and Acrobat Help and can't seem to get any fixes for the problem.  Any suggestions?

    Hi koalakid,

    ·          What steps have you tried to fix the problem?

    ·          Are you able to print from any other applications like WordPad files?

    ·          Do you face this problem for all pdf files?

    ·          What happens when you try to open the printer properties tab?

    Method 1

Let’s enable duplex printing option in Printer & Faxes. Then check if you are able to print pdf files.

    1. Choose Start > Printers And Faxes.
    2. Right-click your printer and choose Printing Preferences.
    3. Click Advanced.
    4. Expand Document Options > Printer Features.
    5. Select the desired options and then choose On from the menu.
    6. Click OK, and then click OK again to exit the dialog box.

    Method 2

If it doesn’t help, uninstall all printer software completely by using Windows Cleanup Utility and reinstall it back.

Install and run the Windows Installer Cleanup utility from this link:

**Description of the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility**

Now run the utility ("Start > All programs > Windows Install Cleanup"). In the list of programs that appear in Cleanup, select the programs, and click remove. Quit out of Cleanup.

    A) Then install the printer by using the ‘Add printer’ wizard.  Later it will ask to install the drivers insert the printer software CD to install the drivers. Right click on the software CD, click on explore. Install the setup files of the drivers as administrator.

    Add or remove a printer

    B) If you have downloaded the setup files. Install the setup files as administrator. Right click on the setup file, click “Run as Administrator”.

Hope the information helps. Please post back and let us know.

You SUCK! Windows 8 SUCKS! You dumbed it down so much that the people who've been using it for 20 years can't do anything with it now that we used to be able to do!  Windows 8 is the best thing that ever happened to the Apple Mac!
