Default Gateway Windows 7 64 Bit

Anonymous

I have been following this thread and using the suggested fixes (ie; bonjour) without success, having the same problem whereby I lose my connection due to a default gateway problem.

I do not have bonjour and I lose my connection about once per hour. I purchased this machine native with Windows 7, so no upgrade paths or issues exist. Use it as it came out of the box.

Hey roxylee,

Step1:

You may try to reset WINSOCK, IPv4 TCP/IP, and IPv6 TCP/IP stack.

  1. Click on Start and in the search box, type cmd.
  2. Right click on the Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a Command Prompt.
  3. At the command prompt window, type the following commands:

netsh winsock reset catalog that resets WINSOCK entries to installation defaults.

netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log that resets IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults.

netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log resets IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults.

  1. Restart the computer.

If you still come across the issue, try the below step.

Step2:

Reset the router to factory defaults by holding the reset button down for 15 seconds with power on.

  1. Turn off the modem, router, and computer.
  2. Connect the modem to the router's WAN/Internet port.
  3. Connect the computer to one of the router's LAN/Network ports.
  4. Turn on the modem, wait for a steady connect light.
  5. Turn on the router, wait for two minutes.
  6. Boot the computer.
  7. When the computer is completely booted, check if the issue persists.

You can also access the below link to reset the TCP\IP Protocol by using Fix it tool which automatically carries out the process:

Access the below link which talks about a similar kind of issue you are experiencing:

I hope the above information helps you. Give a shot.

    Hi,

How have you configured the Network card to obtain IP address, is it configured to obtain IP address automatically or are you assigning a static IP address?

Have you tried having it set to detect settings automatically?

Go through the suggestion provided by “Doomerz” in the thread below. It seems to have fixed the issue for him and other users.

    http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7network/thread/c3ec50e7-d39a-4faf-ad90-d7b961b969bb

    Hope this helps.

I have tried all of Step 1 and all of Step 2 as well as the Fix It Tool and the "solution" in the linked thread.  Nothing is working for me.

I have an nVIDIA network adapter on my motherboard, but my wireless adapter is a USB Linksys deal.  I have updated drivers for both, I have reinstalled both, everything.  I have tried all of the fixes Google offered.  Nothing works, and from the looks of it, this is a major problem.

I was using the 7100 build of the RC fine for months, and installed the RTM version last night.  Now I cannot get online for longer than a minute or two at a time.  Needless to say, it is infuriating, especially because Windows 7 RC was working fine for me for so long.

There is some kind of problem that happened only when I upgraded to the RTM version.

The problem has been rampant for a long time from the looks of things - since beta - and it still isn't fixed?  I paid a heck of a lot of money for this operating system, I shouldn't have to deal with something like this.  Perhaps Microsoft should allocate less resources to DRM and fighting piracy and more toward developing a working product.
