You right click on them and click delete.

Single left-click on them and press Delete key on your keyboard.

Some things like shortcuts to programs, pictures you don't want, etc. can be deleted in this way. However there are other things such as programs (e.g. Games, word processors, iTunes) should be uninstalled. This is done by going to Control Panel then Programs and Features. Then select what you want to uninstall and follow the prompts.

Some things should NOT be deleted as they form the Windows Operating System. Messing with these may stop your computer from working or from starting up. If you are not sure, leave it alone or ask someone who does know.

    Hope this helps.   8)

    Here are three ways:

    1. Click on them, and press the delete key.
    2. Right-click on them and choose "Delete."
    3. Drag them to the recycle bin.

    @ graddydear

I have tried to delete items off my screen but no luck.

What edition of Windows do you have?

What "items" have you been unsuccessful in deleting?

What happened when you tried to delete these items, using any of the 3 methods described by Ken Blake more than 7 years ago?  If you received an error message, please provide the complete text.
