Bluetooth keyboard stops working shortly after pairing

I have been successfully using a Logitech Y-X5A77 Bluetooth keyboard w/ built-in touchpad (marketed for PS3) with Windows 7 (RCs and final release) for many months.  My PC has a RocketFish USB dongle BT adapter that shows up as a "generic Bluetooth adapter" under Windows 7.

Recently, my PC auto-rebooted following the monthly MS update push.  Since then, my BT keyboard will not stay connected to the PC.  It will pair successfully and work fine for a while, but if I put it down for a few minutes and pick it back up again, I'm unable to type or control the cursor.  Similarly, if I turn off the keyboard and turn it back on, it will not reconnect with the PC.

When this occurs, Windows reports that it still has a good connection with the keyboard.  However, this is not true because it will continue to say that even when I turn off the keyboard.  (I believe that in the past when it worked correctly, the keyboard would disappear and then reappear in the list of BT devices when I turned it off and on, though I may be misremembering that.)

The only way to recover is to delete the keyboard from the device list, and re-add it.  This always recovers the keyboard, but only for a few minutes.

I first thought the batteries were low, but I've put two different sets of fresh batteries in it.  (In the few minutes that it works after being re-added, I can control the PC from ~15 feet with no problem; once it loses lock with the PC it doesn't matter if the keyboard is adjacent to the BT dongle--it won't re-establish the link.)

The *only* thing that has changed on the PC is the recent MS auto-update.

    Hi, 

    I would suggest you to follow these steps and check if it works because this issue could occur if there is any hardware compatibility issue.

    Before that we would suggest you to check whether the Bluetooth device is turned on in the control panel to do that you need to visit the below provided link.

    Ignore the title of the document as it is applicable for Windows 7 too.

    Now you need to perform hardware compatibility check with windows 7 on your computer.

    To do that you need to follow the link provided below.

    Try to update the latest drivers from the manufacturers website and check for the issue.

    Note if the issue still persists then you need to install the driver or the software for the device in compatibility mode and check for the issue.

    Now try to update the latest drivers on your computer and check for the issue.

    If the issue still doesn’t get resolved then you need to install it in compatibility mode and check for the issue to do that you need to follow the steps provided below.

    Locate the installer.exe or setup.exe file in the driver folder and right-click on the file. From the contextual menu, choose Properties > Compatibility. Choose the version of Windows you want to emulate and select the “Run this program in compatibility mode” checkbox. Run the installer

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the Start Search box, and then click System Restore in the Programs list.If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.
    2. In the System Restore dialog box, click Choose a different restore point, and then click Next.
    3. In the list of restore points, click a restore point that was created before you began to experience the issue, and then click Next.
    4. Click Finish.

    I am having the same issue.  However, I am using an Apple Keyboard.  Previously the Bluetooth communication was rock solid.  Now it just keeps disconnecting.  I reboot, mess with the BT manager and power off the keyboard to get it working again.  I'm sure it's the PC since I can use the keyboard with other devices just fine.
