Problem with Microsoft Lifecam VX-1000

I am having problems with video quality from the webcam, it is very slow with delayed and blurred motion. The problem seems to be that on the settings window the usb bandwidth is set at minimum (1) and will not allow it to be altered.

I managed to get it working one time by trial and error and plugging the cam into a different usb port and the cam worked properly with a fast picture refresh, also the usb bandwidth had gone up to 6.

I have downloaded the latest software for this cam but the problem remains, it seems very unstable and crashes easily. I am using vista home premium fully updated and everything else runs fine.

Has anyone got any ideas of what could be causing this ?

thanks

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply, I have found that the USB bandwidth only seems to be restricted on 1 port which is part of a memory card reader panel on my pc. I am now using one of the USB ports on the main pc case for the cam and the bandwidth is showing as 6 and giving a normal frame rate.

Have also adjusted the focus ring on the cam for a sharper picture.

I am using the latest available version of cam software and video card drivers.

After looking into msconfig i found that it was set on selective startup, which i have now changed to normal startup although this doesn't seem to have changed anything, everything working ok as before.

    Thanks for your help.

    Regards,

    Andywuk

    Hi,

    1. Is the USB (Universal Serial Board) bandwidth still set to 1 on all the USB ports?

If the image seems out of focus, and you are using a LifeCam with a manual focus ring on the lens, try to adjust the focus manually.

If the focus is set right, then a couple of other troubleshooting steps can be followed to fix this issue. The steps that you can try include:

Step 1: Download and install the latest software.

Step 2: Install the latest video driver for your video adapter.

    Step 3: Adjust display settings.

Step 4: Reduce the hardware acceleration setting.

Step 5: Perform a clean boot procedure.

For more information on executing the above steps one by one, visit this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933310/en-us

    Hope this helps.
