    Hi CharlieKII,

Make sure your video cable (the one that connects from the back of the monitor to the computer) is completely plugged in. If it seems damaged or fray, you may need a new one, but usually a red transparent line down the center of the screen means a line of dead pixels in which your monitor as at fault. There isn't much you can do except buy a new one.

    Thanks,

    Joshua Luitjens

is the screen black when u notice the red line? if it is, then your monitor may be the issue.  just to be sure hook up ur monitor to ur tv via vga cable on the back of ur tv if u have one.  if it boots up with a red line on your tv as well, it may be ur video card.  but if u don't see the red line, it is ur monitor. u may want to change it or keep it till u want to change it at a later time.
