Windows Explorer is in Start > All Programs> Accessories. You can make a desktop shortcut to it by right-dragging it to the desktop and clicking Copy here .
Where is Windows Explorer in Windows 7?
In old versions of windows it was easy to move files or folders around by clicking "Windows Explorer," which would populate a hierarchy tree of file structure, allowing you to move your folder or file into any other folder. You could do this directly from any folder that you happened to be in at the time. Is there anything comparable in Windows 7? Or do I need to open a second folder and then search for the folder that I want to move it to, then go back to the first folder and drag and drop? If the latter, this seems like an inferior system to what was in XP.

And it can be done exactly the same way in Windows 7:
- Right-click the Start Orb and select "Open Windows Explorer."
- Left-click the Start Orb > All Programs > Accessories > windows
Explorer.

It seems to me that the question being asked here is where is the old "Windows Explorer"? The new one sucks!!! How do we get it back? The people answering the original question are dancing around the issue.

, In the search thingy in WIN 7 type " explorer.exe " without the quotes. It will result in one result. Then just select "pin to taskbar or start menu" and it will always be handy. If you pin it to the taskbar it will always be right there. You can open multiple instances with a right click.
