PROBLEM: I bought a Digitech Bluetooth USB 'dongle' XC-4956 from Jaycar consumer electronics (a store like Sick Smith). I installed it on an ACER Aspire 5380TG 64 bit running Win7, since that laptop didn't have inbuilt BT hardware. Then I tried to connect a very 'sexy' Microsoft 'Wedge' keyboard. The install software (basically BT stack and hw driver) that is supplied with the dongle failed to recognise the kb. SOLUTION: I went to the Toshiba site, which automatically handed me on to Microsoft.com, which then seemed to sense that I had Win7-64bit, and installed a generic stack and driver, and VOILA! hubristic happiness.
bluetooth driver, windows 7, x64, mini usb bluetooth dongle
I bought a bluetooth dongle from ebay (those really cheap ones). It doesn't come with software/drivers. I plugged it in my windows vista laptop and it worked smoothly. When I plug it in my windows 7 x64 laptop, it says "Unknown device," "USB device not recognized." Where can I find the right drivers for this bluetooth dongle?

Hi,
Go to www.bluesoleil.com and download their proggie:
http://www.bluesoleil.com/download/Detail.aspx?TID=26
It is a fully functional demo.
See if it works for you (it did for me).
If it does, then you'll have to shell out (like me) 20 euros.
It works with most of the "abandoned", "old" bluetooth USB devices.
Best of luck.

Hi Ibaad, if Windows 7 bluetooth drivers doesn't dettect your dongle, you can try as Carlos suggested, or you can try looking at the following address: http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php
It is possible that your dongle uses a Broadcomm chipset, and therefore the drivers from the page I underlined would work for you. You must download an exe (I think 3.6 MB), and then execute it; then (with the dongle inserted on a USB port) execute the exe you downloaded, and the software itself will try to validate your dongle. If your dongle is validated, then it will download the full Broadcomm drivers, and you'll be able to use your dongle.
Hope it works with your dongle.
Sergi.

2010-01-15T08:39:30+00:00 I'm not sure how it works for external (USB) bluetooth devices, but for Broadcom-based tech internal bluetooth this http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php won't help (for windows 7 then). It starts installation, starting to search bluetooth and.. hangs there telling me to plug in or turn on bluetooth. I wonder, how can I turn on bluetooth, if it's managed electronicaly (not manual enable/disable switch) AND it's internal. (Acer Aspire 5739G is my computer).
