My Autoplay has stopped working

I have just bought a new computer with Core I7 running Windows 7

Mid way through loading my programe the autoplay stopped working and I had to use the run command.

I went into Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > AutoPlay where "Use AutoPlay for all media and devices" is ticked.

All of the Media hav either "Ask me every time" or "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" Software and games is set to "Ask me every time" which is what I was using when I was installing the software. I have changed this but nothing happens, in fact no type of disc i put into the drive will AutoPlay.

The software I have loaded is Office 2007, Money, Samsung media player and Adobe DreamweaverCS4, FlashCS4 and PhotoshopCS3.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

Lynne

    Try two things -

Go to - Control Panel >> Hardware and Sound >> Autoplay and scroll down to bottom and click on Rest all defaultsRun Registry Editor **(regedit.exe)**and Go to - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorerand look for NoDriveTypeAutoRun a DWORD value... If it exists, delete it and Restart your PC to take effect.

Thank u so much u don't know how long I have been looking for a solution to my Autoplay not working issue. I wish there was some way I could repay u. I even called the stupid geek squad and he thought he was doing me a favor by showing me around in Windows Explr. I was just like oh really interesting just to be scarcastic because I was fixing pc's way before he started working at the Hepless Geek Squad. It's just that I am not as sharp as I should be when it comes to fixing registry files like you are. I wish I could do more than say Thank You.

    Thanks

You are not alone, I recently formatted my Comp and upgraded to Win 7 64 bit. I installed my Norton 360 using autoplay with my dvd drive but all later discs have never popped up the autoplay prompt. I have opened a ticket with Microsoft IT and followed their steps but still no solution yet, waiting on a reply. These are the steps they had me do:

Step 1: Enable the auto play settings Step 2: Disable anti-virus program. (Actually uninstalled with remote help from Norton tech, Reinstalled after verification this hadn't helped any)

    Step 3: Perform clean boot

    Step 4: Perform System restore

Step 5: Create new user account.

Also just wanted to mention I checked my Registry entries for my DVD drives to make sure that the autorun value is set to 1 (which it is)

and also confirm that I also do not have a NoDriveTypeAutoRun key in my Registry.

    Hope this may help some.

    Hi Ramesh

I reset all defaults, saved and restarted but autoplay didnt work. I then set Software and gamet to "Ask me every time" still nothing

I went to the registry and the "NoDriveTypeAutoRun" was not there.

I was loading Adobe software at the time,,, is this any help?

If there is anything else that I can try I would be very apperciative.

    Thanks

    Lynne
