I got this as a gift. It came without a software disk. After emailing customer support I got a link to the the following software:

http://www.box.net/shared/static/6o8ihesobp.exe

I downloaded this software.  It brings up the software images on my screen ... I can enter my home location in the software ... but the software never connects to the internet ... so I star all over again.  The installation and troubleshooting guide for this software can be found at:

This gadget is supposedly compatible with Windows 7.  I am running Windows 7 Pro on my HP Computer.

The recent outage appears to be over.  The server is back online and I am receiving weather data.  According so some of the other companies that use the same service for their products, the issue was due to hardware failure on the server that hosts the service.

It has also improved. It is clear that there was no problem with the device. The bug was at your service provider.

    Hello All,

I, too, am having some very frustrating issues with this device.

Luckily for me, I only paid $10.00 for it since it was an open box / as is at Bed, Bath & Beyond (still had the plastic film on it, manual, CD, etc.)....unfortunately for me, I can't return it.

I can't seem to get the PC software to retain my city (for even a second...once I hit "Save" it closes that pop-up window and plays dumb).

The Unit itself does seem to know what day it is...and after about 30 minutes, just displayed the date and time (5 hours ahead)) in the "Update" box....however that is the only thing on the display, and the "RF" bars are still blinking.

The thing that confuses me (among many things) is that how can the Unit know what day and time it is when the only way it has of getting information is wirelessly, but the "RF" icon is continually blinking signifying that it can't find the USB transmitter?

I've tried entering multiple cities and it won't save any of them.

I don't know about you guys, but my PC software won't even display the information there (probably because it forgets what city I input).

    Any suggestions?

I'd really like to see this thing work. It seems like such a great idea, but in looking on the Internet for solutions, I'm finding ALOT of people who have chalked this up to a pretty paperweight.

I actually remember reading a comment from a lady who bought one for her dad. They set it up and she says it works great. Wonder what she did, or if her feedback was really a plant from the company.

Quick question, does your USB transmitter blink red every once in awhile?

Mine seems to do that, but nothing else. When I first plugged the unit it I got a red blink, then a green blink...then no lights. Now I get a red blink about every 20-30 seconds.

    Any suggestions would be great.

    J.

digdeeper .... thanks for looking into this.  Interesting that you didn't have in install cd either.  I just thought this was a returned item  .... and that whoever returned it forgot to return the cd.  I too have spent a lot of time trying to get this to work to no avail.  Tried many of the same things you did ... but have reached the limit of my computer capabilities.

I got one too... less the install cd ..Glad you posted the link for the download ...But like you I only get blank fields on the app on the pc. I called the siproducts support # and never got thru. Send them an email ..still waiting for a response.... Down loaded the .net framework thru ver 3.5 not a fix...I have done as many "tricks as I can think of from USB reconnects, both hot and not... battery remove and reinstall, SW remove and reinstall, looked all over the net for any copies of the cd. or  some  known fixes... no luck.. I did get it to load the time.. but it was 4 hours slow!! and yes I did do the settings correct... and the time on my pc is correct..

After the last receiver power off pwr on the time will not up date..

I have messed with this thing on and off for two evenings now.

I wonder if they have paid their bill to Foreca?.. That's the weather site that supplies the data. I understand that auto uploads to the pc app from foreca is every 6 hours or so with latest data .. but if you click the update forecast it is suppose to load available data. which is where we're both at...

Its not hardware re; usb, ect. Its their app ..I found a runtime error in their VB script that may be part of the problem.. The app may have patches that only are on the CD.. not the download. I WILL get a fix on this since other people have this thing running ..

I suspect its what on the cd and not on the download that's the problem. I'll post more info as I receive it.

I had a look at their web site but details are scarce. It appears that there is a USB connection to the computer which communicates wirelessly with the base unit. You said that it never connects to the internet so I expect that the USB driver might be suspect. I would recommend that you download the PDF user manual that is located under features on the main page. This is not a Microsoft issue.
