Printer Error 0x000000c1 - bad Epson Drivers?

Hey, I just tried to install an Epson Workforce 610.  I received Error 0x000000c1.  It happens whenever I try to Add Printer.

When I try to Add printer as admin I get the following notice:   C:\Windows\system32\ntprint.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.

I have installed and uninstalled the printer and all software several times. Right now no printers are showing.  I am guessing that the Epson driver installed 64 bit files instead of 32 bit.. or something.

I just want to get back to where I was before, but it seems as if the Epson drivers have messed me up for good. Is there any way just to fix things so I can do a simple install?

Operating System: Windows Vista

    Hi Degger,

    • Do you receive any error message while copy system file?

0x000000c1 error occurs if the printer driver that is installed on the computer is corrupted.

You will need to visit the Epson website manually download and install the latest printer drivers and check if it works.

You may use the below link to download and install the printer drivers depending on the version of Windows installed on the computer. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=130786&prodoid=63084540&infoType=Downloads&platform=Windows

If you are using Windows XP refer the below Microsoft article.

Add Printer Wizard does not complete the installation of your printer

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823447

If you are getting error while copying the files from the recovery partition, you will need to contact the computer manufacturer as recovery partition is created by them.

    Hope this helps!

Kind of a semi basic user here... and I don't want to mess something up.

I tried to install a new Epson Workforce 610 printer. The installation failed and now I get Error 0x000000c1 error when I try to add a printer. When I try to add as admin, it tells me that ntprint.dll is experiencing an error.

On my C: drive, the ntprint.dll is blank... 0kB.

I have a backup of ntprint.dll on my D: recovery drive... would I screw anything up by just copying it over?

Also... as i understand, I can't copy a system file, even as an administrator... any advice?

    1. Open System Restore by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking System Restore.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. Choose a date when the system was working fine and follow the instructions on the wizard to complete the task.

For more information on system restore, check this link:
