Or is this event log pollution ?

    Hello all,

The event id 6000 is described in the following website: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc734033(WS.10).aspx

This error might be caused by one of the following conditions:

    • System resources are inadequate or unavailable.
    • The Windows registry is corrupted.
    • A service failed to start.

The website has some suggestions for resolving this issue.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Marilyn

The <SessionEnv> service in windows 7 and 8 refer to the service "Remote Desktop Configuration" in administrative tools/services.I found this same error and did not realize this service was disabled.Default setting for this service is "manual".You might want to set "remote Desktop services" to manual also. This may or may not help you. This one in fact fixed my problem however.hope this helps.

Remote Desktop Configuration service (RDCS) is responsible for all Remote Desktop Services and Remote Desktop related configuration and session maintenance activities that require SYSTEM context. These include per-session temporary folders, RD themes, and RD certificates.

    Service Name (registry): SessionEnv

    Display Name: Remote Desktop Configuration

    Default Path:    C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs

p.s...To clarify, this event  did not come up as any error in the event log, but only as "imformation" in the system log.

It has not caused any problems on my machine.I only noticed it as i was looking through the event log.If it is causing errors for you then i would search further into it.

I am not sure if this service is needed or not,but i enabled it so i would no longer see it in the event log

I get this at every login, and have a few TrustedInstaller ones (event 6003) in the log as well.

Pretty much a clean install of Windows 7 (only been installed a few days). I've done a clean boot and it still happens, and looking back in the log this has happened even at the first login to this install, so I'd say its a bug in Windows rather than caused by 3rd party software. Its a shame you can't tell if its serious or not, but I've not had noticable related problems so I guess its minor...?

    > Is there any pattern observed on the way this warning message is generated?

I see no obvious pattern. Do you want me to send you the application log ?

I can not find any service named "Terminal Services Configuration"

The only thing that is started on login is CIS - Comodo Internet Security.

This is a clean install, nothing is installed except Comodo Internet Security v3.14.130099.587.

The only non-microsoft service that is running is "COMODO Internet Secority Helper Service"

And i can say with 100% certainty that this machine is clean from viruses, malware, crapware, etc.

So what should i do next ?

    Hey JamesWebb ,

Is there any pattern observed on the way this warning message is generated?

This event is not necessarily significant, however, may indicate the possible occurrence of a future problem.

This event is associated with SessionEnv service (Terminal Services Configuration) as can be seen from the message. It is responsible for all Terminal Services and Remote Desktop related configuration and session maintenance activities that require SYSTEM context. These include per-session temporary folders, TS themes, and TS certificates.

It could be possible that the Terminal Services Configuration service was stopped in which case change the service to Automatic startup type and start it. See where it takes.

You can change the service startup type by typing services.msc in the start search field.

Locate the service, double-click on it, change the startup type to Automatic and ensure that the service is started.

If this doesn’t take you anywhere, use MSCONFIG to disable all startup programs. Test to see if problem continues to occur. The suggestion to disable all startups using MSCONFIG is to isolate the problem(s) between the baseline OS/Drivers installed and any third party applications.

Please refer this article for detailed information on how to do this.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7**http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135**

Also, have you run a virus scan or anti-spyware lately? If not, run it and remove any trace of virus infections. Update your virus database definitely at regular interval to avoid any further infection.

If you don’t have any, you may consider running OneCare safety scan for the same.

    Run it from:

If you do not have antivirus/antispyware software on your machine, you may download Microsoft Security Essentials.

    Here’s the download link:

    Hope this helps.
