Acer v223W Monitor - is there a way to make it compatible with Windows 7?

My Acer v223w monitor which works perfectly with XP does not look right with Windows 7. The latest driver I can find is for Vista and after installing that it shows the correct resolution. Text in software and online looks terrible and the only thing that improves it is when I enlarge web pages (nothing makes a difference in software). Using the ClearType text tool also helped but after seeing how good the monitor looks with XP it really bothers me to have it look so much worse on my new computer. I have searched online and can't find a W7 driver and Acer customer service is unresponsive. Is there anything I can do? I need a large monitor for photo editing and can't possibly think of buying a new one (I just bought this one a year ago). Thanks.

The native resolution for youir monitor is 1680 x 1050. Is that what you are using?

    Two other resolutions will suit your monitor.. 1440 x 900 and 1280 x 800..

BUT, if you have upgraded an XP computer to Windows 7, there is a reasonable chance that the problem lies with your video card driver. Have you installed a Windows 7 video card driver? If there is not one available from the video fard manufacturer, you should look for a newer video card. Vista drivers may work in principle , but not give you the best results..

In addition to the above find the correct frequency for your monitor at the native resolution. Remember unlike with old CRT monitors, higher is not always better for resolution/frequency for quality.
