    Hi,

What happens when you try to delete the video files, do you get any errors?

    1.       Click the Start button, click All Programs, and then click Windows Media Player.

    2.       If the Player is currently open and you’re in Now Playing mode, click the Switch to Library button in the upper-right corner of the Player.

    3.       In the Player Library, right-click the item that you want to delete, and then click Delete.

    4.       To select multiple adjacent items, press and hold the Shift key while selecting. To select non-adjacent items, press and hold the Ctrl key while selecting.

    5.       If prompted, click one of the following options:

    ·         Delete from library only

This option deletes the link to the file from your Player Library but it doesn't delete the file from your computer.

    ·         Delete from library and my computer

This option deletes both the link to the file from your Player Library and the file from your computer.

    Note

If you previously selected the Don't show this message again check box at this prompt, and you want to change how the Player deletes files in the future, do the following:

    ·         In the Player Library, click Organize, and then click Options.

    ·         Click the Library tab, select or clear the Delete files from computer when deleted from library check box.

I know this topic is old but I though as a reference this may help others.   I had multiple unwanted videos that needed deleting and I wanted to make sure there are no more such video. I used a software called Content Cleaner which found and deleted them for me.   More info can be found at:

Although this is relevant to the topic I still think you should place a new Q because this thread is already marked as answered (but the answer did not apply in your case) I note from your profile that you haven't placed a Q before, and may not be aware (because it certainly ain't obvious!) that you have to go to

'Participate' at the top of the page and select **'ask a question'**from the dropdown box.

    Regards R

    Hi Farrell

WMP works in strange ways and the solution for one problem isn't always the solution for another!

I think you should post a new Q specifying a) your version of Windows (&WMP) b) exactly what files / file types you are having a problem removing (are they duplicates or obsolete items - and audio or video? etc)

as the correct fix will depend on these points.

    Best - R.

I have tried the listed procedure for removing files from the media player, to put it simple - it did not work.

    Is another option available.
