Mapping a network drive to a specific letter

Our current system has a network where everyone maps to the server's shared files as the letter F.   So the path would be F:\server\shared drive\

Our programs have hyperlinks that open specific files using this path.  I purchased a new computer with Windows 7 Home installed premium 64 bit

When I try to map the network to drive F it is not an option.  I can map the drive to any other letter and it brings up the file, but none of the hyperlinks will work because they need the map to be F.  I tried Z,  G,  H  ect.  I need to be able to map to F.  How do I get F to be an option in the list to map to

Do you have some other device on the system that was assigned the F letter when Windows was installed?

RIght-click My Computer and choose Manage.  Select the Disk Management entry.  Right-click the device currently using the letter F and change its letter to some other value.  Then assign the letter F to the device or share you need.
