How do I install sata drivers so my Win 7 System Recovery Disc will see the image on the ext sata drive?

Tried to use System Recovery Disc in win 7, but it could not find my external sata drive to recover from, even though I used it to create the image! Fortunately, I have a dual esata/usb drive, and it worked when I switche to the usb port. How can I create a system recovery disc with the proper sata drivers I have from my motherboard manufacturer (Gigabyte) both in 32 and 64 bit for creating a sata floppy? I would like to use sata mode, my other backup external hard drive only has sata. I cannot find anyone else with an answer to this.

Hi bigdadbear,

I would advise you to contact your computer manufacturer to install the SATA drivers on your computer.

    HI tombodude--

I would appreciate any assistance getting my EVGA motherboard SATA driver installed with W7.

I installed W7 Professional and my SATA HD is showingin IDE mode in device manager..  HAVE you had any success getting the SATA drivers installed??

I had no  problem getting the SATA Driver floppy to load in XP Pro becauce in XP setup you press F6 and install Floppy... I do not see any procedure like this for W7...

    Thanks for any Help

Hey, I'm not stupid. If they worked, then I wouldn't have the problem, would I? It would automatically find the external sata hard drive - but you can see from my post, it did NOT. It just looked until it timed out, and told me to hook up a drive now; so, as I said before, I unplugged the drive, switched it to usb, and then it found it. It did NOT find the esata external hard drive, period. So, I figured it does not have the correct drivers installed, at least it does not work.

I am trying to move to all sata or esata external drives, because they back up about 5 times faster than usb drives do; I rotate my backups, and if it is esata only and not dual with usb, I am screwed because the System Recovery CD was not able to see the drive.

So, I need some answers, not just how it should work - it does not!

    Please help.

    Hi tombodude,

**Thanks for posting on Microsoft Answers!**While installing the Windows 7, the SATA drivers gets installed automatically and when you use a System Image Disc to install they also gets installed automatically.

    Hope it helps.
