I assume Windows 7 is similar to Vista. Type "winver" into the search/start box and click okay

    Hello,

One more possibility, use the "cmd" as command for the "Run..." Same for all OS, XP, Vista and 7

the version is most of time displayed on the first line (except if the prompt has been disabled or customized).

Microsoft Windows XP **Version 5.1.2600** Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

Start regedit.exe and navigate to the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Which values do you see in CurrentBuild , CurrentBuildNumber and BuildLabEx ?
