Can I have the Taskbar/Start Menu on dual monitors?

I can't seem to find any option for this but thought that I would ask the experts.  I recently got a second monitor and I have them set up so that they are independent and not mirrored.  However, I find that it would be nice if I also had the Start Menu/Taskbar on both monitors without the monitors being mirrored.  Is there some way to make this happen?

Download DisplayFusion and use it to put a task bar on your second monitor.  Its highly customizable and I'm sure it will have what you need.

    Dan,

Thank you for your input.  It appears that you are correct that my nVidia control has overridden the function of having the taskbar span both monitors.  I think that I would even prefer that to having nothing on my secondary monitor.  Is there a way restrict the nVidia control and allow the taskbar to extend over both monitors?

    Hello SLRBS,

You can stretch the taskbar across your display (that happens to span over two physical monitors).  This should happen automatically when you choose to extend your desktop.  If this is not happening, there may be a feature or function in your display driver software (usually nVidia or ATI) that is overriding the default Windows setting to do so.

You cannot have a duplicate Start Menu unless you clone (mirror).

It's interesting that the ability to have a Task Bar on both monitors (without stretching it) seems to vary from one version of Windows to another.

My XP machine does not give me a Task Bar on both screens.

My Win 10 and my Win 7 Pro machines both automatically give me a Task Bar on both screens.

I use a switchable desktop (KVM switch with shared USB ports) and the monitors are the same for all machines, and they all use a USB-VGA adapter that is connected to the KVM switch for driving the second monitor. So there are no differences in the monitor set up for each machine.

I would quite like to have the Task Bar on both screens on the XP machine too but it's a really low power machine for a special purpose and I don't want to install additional s/w to achieve it - quite happy to tinker with settings though.
