Have been trying to install an existing CanoScan 5200f scanner on a new windows7 PC. Windows did not recognise it for automatic acceptance. D.loaded driver from Canon site, and installed it. It has been accepted and is being shown as working correctly. When I try to use it I get 'There is no application for this event'. Anyone had experience of this problem?.

The error is literal. It means you don't have any of the software installed that your scanner output could be automatically sent to when you use the scanner buttons. I don't know which image editing app came with your scanner but the one I got with mine is not Win7 compatible and had to be removed since there was no update for it from the sofware vendor. You can download and install a Win7 version of Canoscan Toolbox and use that instead. It can redirect the scans to whatever software you want, or to a file. You should also be able to "Acquire" scans directly into any other imaging software which has that option.

    Hi MikeSmi

Did you ever manage to resolve the problem?.

I have tried the Cannon driver, and the Canoscan Toolbox, and get the 'unable to select twain', and'There is no application' message.

No one seems to have come up with a an answer to the problem. If Microsoft support are looking in have you any more suggestions?.

    Regards

    Mike

I've had the same problem as Nero, and downloaded and installed the Win7 driver and Win7 Canoscan Toolbox 5.0. In another imaging application the scanner works, but if I try to use Canoscan Toolbox it gives me the "unable to select TWAIN" error.  Moreover, if I go to Settings in the Toolbox and try to select the scanner, it doesn't show it in the popdown menu. And finally, if I try any of the buttons on the scanner itself, I still get the "There is no application" error message. What am I missing?

    Thanks for your reply Afzal.

My printer (Epson D78 ) installed automatically with no problems. Not sure why you are directing me to  printer troubleshooting and links

I have previously tried downloading the Canon driver link you mention several times without success. The one I have been using is No26 ScanGear CS (10.1506) is this the right one?. I have  Win7 Home Premium OS pre installed.

    Regards

    Mike

    Hi,

    First run the printer troubleshooter.

Open the Printer troubleshooter by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting. Under Hardware and Sound, click Use a printer.

    Refer these links:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Printer-troubleshooter

    Why can’t I print?

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Why-cant-I-print

Make sure you have installed the correct version of the printer driver.

You may try to uninstall the driver and reinstall it.

Download the latest driver from the link mentioned below:
