I can no longer access the intranet on our LAN. If I ping the hostname of one of the servers I get the following:

Pinging fuji.mshome.net [65.55.39.12] with 32 bytes of data:

Previously, mshome.net was not appended. This seemed to change last week after installing the latest Windows updates. Other computers on the LAN do not have this problem. Output from ipconfig:

Do you know when this problem began (with the updates)? Try a System Restore to a point in timeBEFORE the problem began. Here's the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/. Be sure to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points. If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two. NOTE: You will have to re-install any software and updates you installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for the updates. Use the recovery disk if the system prompt doesn’t work. The recovery disk works a bit different from the above procedures but if you follow the prompts from the System Restore menu option with the above information you should be able to restore with no problems. If that fixes the issue, temporarily disable automatic Windows Updates until the issue with these particular updates is resolved - then you can turn it back on.
If that resolves the problem, you still have a problem with the updates (and even if it doesn't resolve the problem, you have a problem with the updates).
Please repost your question in the Windows Update Forum at:http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/threads where experts in updates will be happy to assist you. Please post with the info requested here: What to post in the Windows Update forum
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Thanks Alex, disabling ipv6 resolved the problem for me.
i had the same issue after i updated last week. i used the disable ipv6 option and i can now access the intranet in our network.
I hope this issue gets resolved next update.
thanks
i seem to have the same problem.
They occured 3 times already. Always after a microsoft update.
I takes my computer 24 hours to stop using the suffix.
At least, when i logon the next morning the problem is gone (??). I have already tried reboots, but that didn't seem to work.
Going back using the restorepoint option will fix the problem ot the moment.
Regards,
Eric
