i have not changed anything except a few days ago i did a defrag.. then i went to install a few programs and not a single one will install every time right as i press run i get that error. i went to my user and tried finding the folder for temp in appdata.. but it seems that, that folder is missing and when i try to make a new one it says it already exists.. kinda weird lol no clue if that is part of the problem

Edit: i found it through searching for a file inside the appdata folder and just working my way back... seems to have been hidden somehow >.> but still no installations

lol, "see here" was supposed to point to a link but it flipped to the next line.  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows7/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

It sounds like your user profile has corrupted.  Follow the instructions in the above link to create a new profile.

Hi silentfire.  It sounds like a Permissions issue.  Rightclick on the Temp folder and choose Properties and check to make sure your account has ownership  and full control of the folder (click on the Security tab).  See here http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/take-ownership-of-file-or-folder-windows-7-vista/ for more help.  Post back if you need more assistance with this

None of the solutions listed here worked for me.

What did work was putting the install file inside a ZIP.  Then double-click the ZIP file to open it using Windows (don't actually extract it), and run the installation from inside the zip.

Translated: This problem can be solved by just running the application as an administrator. It is done in the following way: right click the application and select "run as administrator." Thanks

I have my OS installed on a different drive than my user folders.

I was able to get my software to install by moving the .exe installer somewhere on the actual C: drive and then running it.
