Installing a Microsoft Arc Keyboard

I can't get the Arc Keyboard to work.  I have downloaded the software and followed all directions for setting up and installing the keyboard.  All checks of the system indicated that the computer recognizes that the keyboard is there, but the keyboard and the laptop are not talking.  I'm using Vista with a 32bit system.

According to: http://www.microsoft.com/nz/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=120&active_tab=systemRequirements, you need to be online to setup the software.  Was that the case?  If not you need to uninstall the software and then get online and install it again while online.  You may want to download updated software rather than use what came with the device - but that's your choice (though it is what I would do).  Here's where to get it:http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=MK.

You can try Microsoft Support but I don't know if it will be free and can't tell without yor product identification number.  Here's where to start:https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?&c1=502&gprid=15022&&st=1&wfxredirect=1.  You will be told if charges apply before they charge you.

I looked up your keyboard and there is no online documentation availalble to assist with installations or problems or anything (just technical specifications).  Your best bet is to uninstall whatever you've installed at this point and start over fresh with a new software download and making sure you are online when you install.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    I solved the same problem.

Unplug all usb devices, plug in only the nano receiver. Problem in power management, it's time to buy usb concentrator :)

I found that if I used another USB port it will install the software OK.  Removing other USB may also work fine as reported.  I know it works since this is the keyboard I just plugged in.  Now I will see how I can get the USB mouse and the USB keyboard to work on the USB KVM Switch.  If not I will return the keyboard.

I have this problem also, but being online does not solve the problem. I've tried this on 2 separate computers - one running windows 7 32-bit and one running XP. i had the same result on both systems while being online in both instances. i also tried different USB ports on both systems with no success. I've downloaded and installed IntelliType Pro 8.0 on both systems, and no software came with the keyboard.

I'm thinking I have a hardware problem here. Surely this means either the receiver or the keyboard are faulty?
