I keep getting the above error message whenever I try to install an update to a program I already have and use daily.

The program vendor is at a loss to explain why this happens, but it happens on two different computers.

    Hello Connie,

Typically, this message occurs when the ZIP file is in a protected area.

To resolve the problem, move the ZIP file into one of your user profile sub folders, like Downloads, Documents, Pictures, etc.  Then try to extract the files.

If that doesn't work, the ZIP file may be corrupted.  You should replace it with a new download from the source.

If you're trying to open a zip file using Windows' Compressed Folders utility, the issue is likely that the file was encrypted with strong AES encryption.  Windows doesn't support strong encryption and won't be able to decrypt the file.

i get this error all the time in windows 8

you have to right click a file in the zipped folder and click extract

if that doesn't work download a program like winrar (remember to only download a program from it developers site or it may have a virus)

    winrar download: rarlabs.com

it will say it needs to be activated after 29 days or so but it dosent

I had the same problem using files I had encrypted with 7 zip on Windows 7. The files were .odt and .doc files. The answer was to open the files by browsing to them in the encryption software rather than by double clicking the file itself.
