NetMeeting isn't included in Windows 7; it's now called Microsoft SharedView (who thinks up these names?).   There is a small download that needs to be installed on each machine wanting to join the meeting.  Up to 15 participants are allowed, and this program works on Windows 7, Vista, XP,  Windows Server 2003 machines.

I agree with many of the others in here. Barbara, SharedView is NOT NetMeeting. The latter allowed you to connect to a machine's IP directly. SharedView cannot do this. Those of us who work with videoconference hardware from Polycom and Cisco need the ability to do this.

Since Windows 7 doesn't seem to like the Netmeeting installer, perhaps a better question would be: How do you install programs in "XP Mode" in Windows 7? There was a feature like this on Mac's Snow Leopard where you could open certain older PPC apps in "Rosetta", which gave backwards-compatable functionality.

It would be nice if Microsoft didn't suck so much and had something similar.

    Was this problem ever resolved?

We need the ability to make conference meetings over the LAN and have the presenter to share his desktop with all the participants, we do not have internet connection,

We have been using Netmeeting for years now for this purpose, now we have provided several new machines with Win7 and we realized the users don't have netmeeting,

I don't know what to do at this point, all the company uses Netmeeting and these users with new machines can't join the meetings, this issue prevents our users to work properly and this affects their productivity.... :-(

I have looked for a solution but I couldn't find one,

Does anyone have any suggestion on how to allow Win7 to join a Netmeeting conference?

Or, is there any other alternative that will work over the LAN with no internet connectivity?

A quick solution will be very much appreciated

    Thanks in advance!

Guys, the question is How to install Netmeeting in Windows 7, not what can replace Netmeeting in Windows 7.

If it is not possible to install Netmeeting in Windows 7, then say it straight away.

If it is, then please share how to install it. I'm not looking for an alternative here.

Why should someone have to explain that they need Netmeeting to communicate with people that only have Netmeeting on their end, running Windows XP for example.
