My Lexar Jump drive worked with XP & worked once with Windows 7 at a  computer store, but refuses to open on mine now. I tried uninstalling all the USB ports & re-installing but did not work.

    Hi,

Are you able to see the Flash drive in disk management?

    To open disk management:

Click on start and then type “devmgmt.msc” (without quotes) in the start search box and press enter.

Try these steps and check if it fixes the problem:

Step 1: Run hardware and devices troubleshooter.

Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter and check if it fixes the issue automatically. Refer to the article below for steps:

    Hardware and Devices troubleshooter:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Open-the-Hardware-and-Devices-troubleshooter

Step 2: Run the Fixit diagnostic tool.

Refer the link mentioned below and run the Fixit diagnostic tool to automatically diagnose and repair problems with devices when the device manager

does not detect your hardware devices.

    Hi,

Are other USB devices getting detected on the computer?

If not, then you may also try deleting the USB "Upper Filter" & "Lower Filter" Entry

Before we go any further, please first backup the Registry.

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur

if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry

before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

For more information about how to back up and restore the registry in Windows:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Back-up-the-registry

    a. Click “Start”, type “REGEDIT” (without quotation marks) in the “Search” bar and press Enter.

Note: If UAC (User Account Control) pops up, please accept it.

    b. Right click “Computer” (the root node) in the left pane, click “Export” under the “File” menu, choose “All” under “Export range”, and select

“Desktop” in the “Save” in box and type backup in “File Name”. Click “Save”.

Note: The backup file is on the Desktop and named backup.reg. We can simply restore the registry by double-clicking the backup.reg file.

    c. Click “Start”, type “REGEDIT” (without quotation marks) in the “Search” bar and press Enter again.

    d. Locate the “UpperFilters” value under the following key in the registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000}

    e. On the “Edit” menu, click “Delete”, and then click “OK”.

    f. Locate the “LowerFilters” value under the same key in the registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000}

    g. On the “Edit” menu, click “Delete”, and then click “OK”.

    h. Quit Registry Editor and restart the computer.

I would also suggest you to update the drivers for your chipset. Download the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s website and install

    on the computer.

    Thanks for the response.

I tried all of the steps suggested. My flash drive shows up intermittently in the device manager (visible for about 6 seconds then disappears - this is repeated over & over until I remove the flash drive from the USB port).

The answers in the troubleshooting & fixit just suggest that it's not being detected. I already knew that.

I wouldn't get so hung up on this but I bought & used the new drive for only 1 month before my computer upgrade. It works on computers running Windows 7 at the computer store - just not mine.
