I DONT KNOW WHERE TO POST THIS QUESTION. I'VE SEARCHED EVERYWHERE TO TRY TO FIND AN ANSWER--I'VE LOOKED IN THE VISUAL STUDIO FORUM & DIDN'T SEE MY QUESTION THERE. I JUST NEED TO KNOW IF I NEED THIS FILES & WHAT ARE THEY FOR? I DON'T KNOWINGLY USE THEM FOR ANYTHING. THE ONLY MICROSOFT OFFICE PROGRAM I USE REGULARLLY IS ONE NOTE.

OF A SUDDEN I HAD A FOLDER SHOW UP ON MY DESKTOP THAT WHEN OPENED TAKES ME TO A FILE TO INSTALL MICROSOFT VISUAL C ++ 2008 REDISTRIBUTABLE. I DID INSTALL IT & IT PUT ALOT OF FILES IN MY "COMPUTER" FOLDER--NOT UNDER ANY CERTAIN FILE, JUST LISTED BELOW ALL THE OTHER FOLDERS. THERE ARE 9 EULA FILES THAT ARE ABOUT MICROSOFT VISUAL STUDIO 9 BETA. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THIS IS, SO MY QUESTION IS WHAT IS IT & DO I NEED IT? TAKES UP ALOT OF SPACE. IVE ALSO GOT A FOLDER FOR MICROSOFT VISUAL STUDIO 8 FOLDER IN MY COMPUTER PROGRAM FILES FOLDER--DO I NEED THIS

Ouch! Please don't yell at us. We can hear you if you type normally,

    in mixed case.

Visual Studio is programming software. If you don't use it, you don't

    need it.

But to be on the safe side, before deleting them, why not burn these

files to a CD? That way if something later complains about their not

being there, you can put them back.

and yes, it is shouting, and yes it's lazy, and hard to read in a block of text like that.  Even four years later, it still hurts the inner eye.  lower case works well, and you never  have to use the shift key unless you want to.   Same question, and thank you for the answer, even if I am four years later than this. =)

Thanks, Ken.  And just for you I will take the trouble to not type in all caps & have to do the shift thing every time I want to use a capital letter. It's just something I find stupid & can't believe that people still think it only means "shouting"--it doesn't.

What it "means" isn't the issue. What it feels like is the issue. And

    it feels like shouting.

And it feels so much like shouting, and it's so difficult to read,

that I (and many others like me) normally ignore messages in all caps,

unless they are very short. Yours was borderline in length; I almost

ignored it, but at the last minute I read it.

So it's your choice. Type in all caps if you want to, but realize that

it will result in being ignored by many people who might have been

    able to help you.

    thanks for the help!

    You're welcome. Glad to help.

Ken & Judy are both way overreacting, with a typical factor of 'mightier than thou'. Sick. Stick to business, which in this case, should have been short and sweet.
