How to resize batches of photos in Windows 7

Photo resizing

I have just changed computers and now have windows 7 as opposed to previous XP

In XP I had absolutely no problem in resizing batches of photos (for email, storage etc) using the Windows explorer facilities which allowed you to select a group of photos , right click and instantly resize.

For some reason this facility is not available in Windows 7  - Microsoft obviously fixing something that wasn't broken.

Any ideas as to how I can do this as I am reluctant to download any of the freebie softwares on offer on the net and I can't find an official Microsoft program

thanks

Windows XP did not have a "resize" option built-in either, you must have installed PowerToys or some other 3rd party applet to allow resizing.

Resizing is available in Windows Live Photo Gallery (right-click, choose "resize"), if you have that on your system.

or there are several tools you can load for Windows 7, some are freeware, like:

    or

    http://cybernetnews.com/image-resizer-windows-7/

or some times, when you buy and install an aftermarket photo/album application, it will include a tool to do that.

    Thanks!

Found that searching for Microsoft Office Picture Manager using the search bar (at Start Button) on my windows 7 PC was by far the fastest way of batch resizing my pics.

Simply add the photos into the software, select all, and click on the Resize option on the right, which will bring up further options for pixel size or %age change.

    Simples!  ; )

I agree with "J" that FastStone Photo Resizer is, although not as simple as the right-click Resize Photo option in XP, still a very useful tool. ALSO, since it is hosted on download.cnet.com, it is verified to not contain ad-ware, spyware, or any other ****.

    =========================================

I suggested Prish Image Resizer, and you access it from

the Context Menu...Right Click / Prish Resize...

FastStone Photo Resizer is also a good app but it has a

graphical interface that includes a set of editing tools.
