How do I enable touch in Windows 7?

I just bought an Acer T230H monitor (along with the other parts for this new computer) and I am not able to use the touch capabilities of the monitor. I've gone back and forth with Acer tech support and after a conversation over the phone they said the problem could be that Windows does not have the touch enabled.

I thought I had it anabled. I went to Control Panel -> Programs -> (Under Programs and Features) Turn Windows Features On or Off, then made sure Tablet PC Components was selected ( which it already was ). Is there something else I need enabled?

After installing all the drivers what I noticed was that under Devices and Printers there's an entry for my Acer T230H monitor, and an extra unknown device listed as T230H ( with a yellow triangle and a exclamation mark ). I believe this is from the USB port which is used for touch on the monitor.

Anyone else having this problem or can think of an idea to fix it?

Thank in advance.

    Hi Darkninja,

In Windows 7 you do not have to enable any of the settings for the touch screen. If all the drivers and applications are installed from the monitor manufacturer, it should work.

However, I would suggest you to make a note of the error code for the unknown device T230H and post it back. To do this open device manager and right click on the Unknown device and click on properties. Make a note of the error code. Later uninstall the unknown drivers from the device manager.

While uninstalling the device, make sure you place a check mark against "Delete the driver software for this device".

Once you uninstall the device make sure you have the entire driver for your touch screen and try to reinstall the drivers.

You may access the link below and download the drivers for your Acer T230H and try to reinstall the drivers and check if it works.

If the issue persists, you may have to contact Acer support again to check for the right drivers and update the drivers that’s listed in unknown devices.

Hope this helps. Let us know the results.

In the end I had to send my monitor in for repair. They told me it was missing a part and they had to replace it. Although it took them 22 days in total after getting it in their shop. They had to order the part, found out it didn't work. Then ordered the same part again which didn't work. Then just gave me a new one that worked.

I have the direct number to one of their level 2 support guys. Blane at (254) 298-4497. He helped me get things squared away.

I have the same problem with the Acer T230H monitor.  Upgraded a Dell Inspiron laptop to Windows 7 Ultimate, but the touch function isn't working.

Same symptoms in the Devices & Printers showing the T230H monitor, but also an unknown device T230H with a yellow triangle exclamation mark (shows only when the USB cable is plugged in).

Their is also a USB Code 10 error in the Device Manager under HID (Human Interface Devices).  Tried uninstalling the drivers and installing the Acer provided driver from their website.  I didn't see an option for "Delete driver software for this device..." when I did.

Acer support said the issue was with the laptop's drivers, then they said it was with the Windows 7 drivers, etc.  Doesn't sound like they have a solution.

Has anyone gotten this monitor to work correctly after experiencing the above issues?  I've seen a lot of people complaining about the problem, but nobody has shown any solutions.

Please help, next step is to send to Acer's repair dept.
