How do I totally DELETE a Network created from "set up a wireless ad-hoc (computer-to-computer) network" ?

I attempted (unsuccessfully) to set up a "wireless ad-hoc" network to enable another pc to share my internet connection (which is working fine).

Needless to say, it didn't work!  But NOW .... every time I search wireless networks, my ad-hoc network keeps coming back as an available network.  Worse still, it now shows as unsecured, even though I secured it.

So I need to delete it quickly ... but HOW please?

I have "removed" it from Control Panel\Manage Wireless Networks, but it keeps reappearing in the list of available wireless networks to connect to.

    Try this:

Go to Control Panel > Classic View > Network and Sharing Center > Customize > Merge or delete network location > Highlight the network then click Delete.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    Windows 8

    • Access Settings and then choose the Wireless icon.
    • Right-click on the network and choose Forget this Network.

    Windows 7

    • Go to Start > Control Panel >Network and InternetNetwork and Sharing Center
    • Choose Manage Wireless Networks from the options on the left.
    • Highlight the network from the list and choose Remove

These replies are from 2010.  I would appreciate updated info.  I don't even find a classic view on my control panel.

I would like to get rid of the extra networks that are not valid to me.

    Thanks for the help!

No .... this is no help at all !!

I did write in my original post "I have 'removed' it from Control Panel\Manage Wireless Networks, but it keeps reappearing" - maybe you didn't read all of my post?

All removing the network from the Wireless Networks list does is disable subsequent automatic reconnection - but it DOES NOT delete the network definition.

Because this network definition is for a "wireless ad-hoc network to another pc", MY pc keeps re-activating the signal and waiting for other pc's etc. to connect to it.

So - back to the Original question :-) ..... how do I delete a network definition?

    Thanks in advance,

    Richard

Go to Control Panel > Classic View > Network and Sharing Center > Manage Wireless Networks in the left pane and right-click the one you want to remove.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
